Borderline missions
Borderline's full release includes two complete missions. The Steam playtest covered one of them for a week with over 5,000 players.
Borderline ships with exactly two missions — both full-sized, both playable, both part of Gideon's opening chapter. That sounds small until you look at how they were built: one of the two spent a week under public playtest with more than 5,000 players before launch.
The numbers behind the two missions
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Missions at launch | 2 complete missions |
| Playtest window | One week, September 2026 |
| Playtest players | 5,000+ |
| Bugs fixed from playtest | 100+ |
| Price to play both | Free |
The playtest covered a single mission — the developer's wrap-up post confirmed the full release adds the second. So if you played the playtest, roughly half of Borderline is still unseen, and the part you did play has been patched and polished with a week of real player data.
How the missions are structured
Borderline is built to "strike from the shadows or tear through everyone standing in your way" — and the mission design respects both answers. The store text walks through the loop you can expect in each:
- Observe patrols and create openings. Enemies who are unaware react slowly; the early minutes of a mission are about reading routes and finding the seams.
- Use the environment. Darkness, sound, distractions, gadgets — the room itself is part of the toolkit.
- Or skip all of that and fight. Firefights are authored, not accidental: positioning, ammo and split-second decisions decide them.
The objective HUD follows series tradition. Official screenshots show objective text pinned in the corner — things like "Protect Lee & neutralize everyone (5/16)" — with named characters to keep alive and counters for hostiles left. Even in footage, the missions read as spaces with a skeleton objective and a lot of freedom around it.

A mission approach that works
If you want a default that survives both missions:
- Mission start: pure ghost. Learn the floor. Nobody has seen you; the reaction system rewards patience with slower, dumber responses.
- Mid-mission: spend your noise carefully. A distraction here buys a corridor there. Gunfire is relocation, not just elimination.
- Extraction: save violence for the exit only if it's cheaper than silence. Mission outcomes echo forward in the full game; treat a clean finish as an investment.
What we don't know yet
Mission names, settings and lengths are not public — and we will not guess them from trailer cuts. Achievements are not listed for Borderline, so there is no checklist to leak structure either. When the build unlocks on October 2, 2026, this page gets the real mission list and a walkthrough layer; the release-time guide tracks the countdown.
